Human Trafficking - A Christian Response

Is human trafficking really an issue? What can we do about it?
"I’m talking about the injustice, the outrage, of human trafficking, which must be called by its true name – modern slavery." – U.S. President Barack Obama
Imagine this. You’re on your way to a coffee shop, you are buzzing with the anticipation of meeting this guy your friends have introduced you to, and when you get there you laugh and talk with him; you have such a great time.
But whilst you go to the toilet this guy drugs your coffee, you pass out, and he loads you into the boot of his car as if you are little more than baggage, to cross the border he simply pays off the security guard.
You finally wake up in a strange country, chained to a bed, being raped and beaten over and over and over again.
You’re a modern-day slave. Within two weeks, you’ll be sold on.
Sadly, this story isn't a fantasy. It happened to Natalia and her story is the story of 27 million men, women and children every day. People just like you and me, being illegally traded, mainly for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced labour.

I am excited to be writing over at Big Fat Toothbrush, the focus for April 2013 is human trafficking.  I am spending a lot of time researching, finding out about, campaigning against and raising awareness of human trafficking at the moment.  I am fully convinced tht it is on God's heart, and He is etching it into mine, He is opening doors and leading the way forward in the most amazing ways, its scary, and I don't feel big enough...but that's the point, I'm not big enough. This isn't by my strength, but by God's... trusting in Him, and dreaming bigger.
Dream bigger... because some people just can't.
